Events Policy

The Feminist Bookshop operates an Events Policy which we ask all guests and speakers to respect.

The bookshop is accessible to a manual wheelchair user via ramp, however, our bathroom is not. To read more about our accessibility details, please visit this page here or feel free to get in touch.

We strive to be a supportive space and have a zero tolerance policy for any kind of abusive behaviour - in person or online.

Verbal Abuse

We ask everyone that uses our spaces to respect people’s identity, background, ethnicity and pronouns. Whilst we encourage debate and discussion within our bookshop, we also ask that people respect both our customers and staff members’ boundaries - please do not bring up topics of conversation that can be triggering or harmful without consent.

Any racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, classist or ableist slurs are prohibited in the spaces operated and owned by The Feminist Bookshop. This inlcudes on the physical premises of the bookshop or any online platform that is owned or hosted by The Feminist Bookshop. If any verbal abuse is witnessed or flagged to us, you will be immediately asked to leave the premises and you may be refused re-entry.

With regards to online verbal abuse, if this is detected your account will be blocked and appropriate measures will be taken to ensure that future abuse is prevented. During online events conducted via Zoom, we hold the right to remove you if you go against our safe spaces policy.

Physical Abuse

Any form of physical contact that is intended to harm or violate someone is strictly prohibited in the spaces operated and owned by The Feminist Bookshop. This includes non-consensual contact (touching someone without their permission).

This should go without saying but to be explicit any form of sexual contact and harassment are also strictly prohibited. If at any point you feel threatened or uncomfortable please let a member of our team know and we will help you in every way possible.

The Feminist Bookshop holds the right to remove you from the premises and refuse entry if our events policies are breached. If you are removed during an event for any reason, you will not be given a refund.

Privilege

We ask hosts and guests to try to be aware of the existing systems of oppression that operate and how words, actions and opinions may be harmful or exclusionary to others.
